Step I: Revision

Complete the passage according to the text.
Step II. Presentation
  • Free talk.
  • T: What’s the name of the giant panda?
         We call it Xi Wang.
    Language point: call sb. sth.  称呼某人……
  • Read paragraph 1 to paragraph 3, complete the table ’the growth of Xi Wang’.
  • T: Would you like to know more about the growth of Xi Wang? Please read from paragraph 1 to paragraph 3, complete the table ’the growth of Xi Wang’.
    Check the answers.

  • Read paragraph 4 to paragraph 6, find out three problems.

    Remind students of the tenses in ‘if clause’:主句用将来时,从句用一般现在时。
    T: In a word, it’s difficult for giant pandas to survive in the wild.
    Language point: It’s … for sb. to do sth.  对某人来说做某事怎样
  • Read paragraph 7 to paragraph 8, find the three actions.
  • T: Since giant pandas are in danger, we should take some actions to protect them.
    Language points: take action(s) to do sth.  采取行动
                  encourage sb. (not)sth.  劝告、鼓励某人(不)做某事
    Step III. Activity
    T: You are a journalist; you want to write a report on how to protect giant pandas. Have an interview with panda, hunter, farmer, and some people.
    Students should use phrases on the blackboard to make the dialogue.

  • Read the text several times and recite all the expressions.
